ADEC Coordinator Selected as an Ashoka Fellow

Great news for the Arab Digital Expression Camps project. Ashoka, an international organization that grants fellowships to individuals working in public development, has selected ADEC Coordinator Ranwa Yehia as one of its fellows.

In an official email sent August 19th, 2008, Ashoka Vice President and Regional Director of Ashoka Arab World Dr. Iman Bibars said: "I am honored and delighted to inform you on behalf of Ashoka Arab world that you have succeeded in our 11th panel for the year 2008 and became a member of our Ashoka fellows' community."

The Ashoka fellowship was granted for Yehia's work on the ADEC project which is aimed at developing critical thinking skills of Arab youth by providing an environment where they can elaborate on their own ideas that are reflective of their culture, identity and hopes through the use of advanced digital technologies.

The announcement comes as great news for the ADEC project and in recognition of three years of hard work by all members of its team despite many challenges. The ADEC project team regards this nomination as a major sign of support to the efforts being exerted to advance Arab youth in digital expression.
